Python Cuff sneak peek

Well, I've been working like a busy bee!

Here's what I completed this morning:

It's a pattern for one of my new pieces -  a python cuff! The colors are exaggerated to help me with the beading process. The real piece will be woven with subtle mixed metals. I expect it to be a real showstopper! This will be available in my Whisperwill line, but if you love it, you can pre-order at a discount through my Kickstarter campaign which will be launching shortly. I'll post a link once it's up!

I always have music playing while I work. I'm currently humming along to "Bear Necessities" from The Jungle Book, but this morning I was on a Ben Folds streak and stumbled across this little gem. Enjoy :)

I am lucky to have some very talented friends.

This Sunday, my good friend Minkyu Lee said that his animated short is almost ready for a friends-and-family viewing. I couldn't be more excited! It's going to be absolutely beautiful.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's nominated for an Oscar this coming season.

I'm not kidding, people. He's that good. He already beat out Disney (where he works as a character developer), Pixar, Dreamworks, etc. to win an Annie award for Best Animated Short Subject.

Maybe I'm stuck in 2000 (anyone else remember when the Bye Bye Bye video first came out? My sister and I were glued to the tv for weeks), but I still LOVE a good music video.

Enter Kimbra. I love this song. This is my go-to music video to watch when I'm having a bad day.

It just makes me feel better.

Media Monday - Samsara

Oh dear me, what a beautiful film.

This is the trailer for Samsara, from the makers of Baraka. 

It's a silent documentary, if you must put it into a genre, but the filmmakers described it as "guided meditation" during the Q&A after the screening. (I was lucky enough to attend a screening at the Cinerama Dome with Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson)

The images are stunning. It's a profound film, exploring birth, death, and rebirth.

It made me think and feel, which is the mark of any great film.

Media Monday - Yokoo

Today I'm featuring this gorgeous video from the "Handmade Portraits" series by Etsy. I'm an Etsy seller myself, and I love to see who else makes things. Yokoo is one of the most inspirational artists I've ever come across. Please check out her shop. I love that she says that her work comes out of silence. Her spirit really motivates me to create, and to take joy in the process. Her styling and photography are impeccable, and I would feel so cool wearing any of her unique pieces.
